Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the suspicion raised by the Democratic Party about ‘preparing for martial law’ as baseless, unrealistic, and purely based on imaginary rumors.
Floor leader Choo, at the party’s strategy meeting held at the National Assembly today (3rd), stated, “Yesterday, after Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader, made provocative statements about imposing martial law, many Democratic Party members joined in the incitement, but not a single one provided proper evidence.” He added, “It’s a logic that the Democratic Party came up with by forcibly twisting their thoughts, mentioning the incident of the military martial law document during Park Geun-hye’s administration, even though it was thoroughly investigated back then, suggesting that it would happen again now.”
He continued, “However, the military document incident during the Park Geun-hye administration was investigated for 104 days by the investigative team directly ordered by President Moon Jae-in in 2018. They examined over 200 people, conducted searches at around 90 locations, but found no evidence and no one was punished, ending in nothing.”
Floor leader Choo said, “The belief that such provocations continue to work is extremely underestimating the people.” He emphasized, “The reason the Democratic Party is clinging to imaginary rumors is ultimately in line with the consistent goals the Democratic Party has shown since the opening of the 22nd National Assembly, which seem to be an extension of their political incitement aimed at ‘uniting the base (supporters of Lee Jae-myung), protecting this leader from legal risks, and creating a situation for presidential impeachment conspiracy.” He urged, “I hope the Democratic Party stops their type of imaginary rumor politics that easily shakes the country for factional benefits.”
