The late summer heat continues during the Chuseok holiday, and Seoul has issued the latest heat wave warning ever recorded. Record high temperatures for September were observed in various places. Let’s check the detailed weather in Weather Click.
Park Seo-jeong, the weathercaster, will the hot weather continue today as well?
[Weathercaster]
Yes, that’s right.
After the heat that dominated during the Chuseok holiday, I hope everyone stayed healthy. The late summer heat will continue today as we return to our daily lives. A typhoon is bringing hot winds to the Korean Peninsula, intensifying the heat. If we look at the current temperatures, Seoul is at 25.9 degrees Celsius, likely to break the record for the latest tropical night temperature observation. Taking a closer look at the current temperatures in different regions, Seoul is at 25.9 degrees Celsius, Cheongju at 24.8 degrees, Jeonju at 25 degrees, and Busan at 27.2 degrees.
Meanwhile, the southern inland areas will have very thick fog with visibility less than 200 meters. Other inland areas will also have hazy conditions.
Although we are entering mid-September, a special heat wave warning covers the entire country. Currently, except for the East Sea coast, heat wave warnings are in effect nationwide. Today, temperatures are expected to skyrocket to 33 degrees in Seoul, 36 degrees in Cheongju, and 36 degrees in Wanju. Looking at today’s highest temperatures, Seoul will reach 33 degrees, Daegu 35 degrees, and Jeonju 35 degrees. Today’s weather includes possibilities of rain showers and thunderstorms. In the capital region and Gangwon Province, up to 60mm of rain is expected, while in the Honam and other regions, around 40mm of rain is anticipated. Other regions will also experience rainfall, where the southern coast may see over 150mm and mountainous areas in Jeju may receive over 250mm of heavy rain, expanding nationwide from tomorrow dawn. When rain or showers occur, be cautious as up to 30mm of rain per hour may concentrate.
If you are wondering when the heat will finally dissipate, with rain expected tomorrow, daytime temperatures will drop below 30 degrees. Rainy news is also forecasted for the weekend, gradually relieving the heat.
This has been the weather update.
