The cultural ministry’s computer system is also paralyzed… Considering alternative services.

Minister Leads Emergency Response System

On the 27th, Minister Choi Hee-young of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, to discuss measures following disruptions in administrative systems caused by a fire at the National Information Resources Service. The ministry announced that it has entered an emergency response system under the minister’s lead.

Due to the fire, the ministry’s computing systems and the Integrated Supervisory Commission on Speculative Industries system have been halted. Access to 47 public services, including policy briefings and the Illegal Speculative Industries Monitoring and Reporting Center, as well as six specific services such as the Integrated E-mail for Public Officials and the ministry’s work portal, and 11 systems, has been interrupted.

To minimize inconvenience to the public, the ministry has decided to switch handling of certain services—such as career certificates and non-profit corporation-related requests—from the ministry’s website to phone, fax, and in-person methods. Additionally, the Illegal Speculative Industries Monitoring and Reporting Center, as well as periodic publication registration management tasks, will be conducted via phone.

If the recovery is delayed, there are considerations to bypass services on the website and policy briefings through the Korea Culture Information Service Agency’s servers.
