In August, Hyundai and Kia sold a total of 179,455 vehicles in the U.S., marking a 10.9% increase compared to the same period last year, making it the highest monthly sales record in their history. Hyundai, including the Genesis brand, sold 96,448 units, an 11.3% increase. Notably, the Palisade (15,560 units) and the Ioniq 5 (7,773 units) saw significant growth, increasing by 38.8% and 60.7%, respectively. Genesis sold 7,925 units, a 7.3% increase, with popular SUV models like the GV70 (3,459 units, +8.7%) and GV80 (2,630 units, +12.2%) showing strong performance.
Kia sold 83,007 vehicles, growing by 10.4% from the previous year. The Sportage sold 18,023 units (+19.2%), and the EV9 sold 2,679 units (+12.2%), both reaching record sales figures. The new K4 model sold 12,091 units, maintaining over 10,000 sales per month for eight consecutive months this year.
The combined sales of eco-friendly vehicles from both companies reached 49,996 units, a 51.8% increase from the previous year. These vehicles accounted for 27.9% of their total sales in the U.S., reaching an all-time high. Sales of both hybrid and electric vehicles increased significantly.
By model, Hyundai’s Tucson was the best-seller with 17,954 units, followed by the Palisade and Elantra (15,282 units). For Kia, the top sellers were the Sportage, Telluride (12,177 units), and K4.
