Yes, currently a lot of snow is falling in the southern regions of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.
Let’s check the real-time situation in these areas via the KBS disaster monitoring CCTV.
This is the Gyeonggi Province Yongin area, where the heaviest snowfall is occurring.
As you can see, so much snow has accumulated that not only the road lanes but also the curbstones are indistinguishable.
Currently, this area is seeing large snowflakes falling at a rate of about 7cm per hour.
Please reduce your speed and ensure a sufficient safety distance.
There has been an incident as well.
It is at the Chu-gye Overpass on the Yeongdong Expressway in the Yongin area.
The right side is towards Incheon.
Accident vehicle processing work continues on the fourth lane.
The snowfall has become heavier than an hour ago, leading to reduced visibility.
Please reduce your speed to avoid subsequent collisions.

Let’s take a closer look at the situation in the metropolitan areas where strong snow clouds are passing.

An hour ago, Seoul was briefly calm, but recently strong snow clouds have been moving in again.
The snow clouds developing over the western sea are forming into bands heading towards southern Seoul and Gyeonggi areas.
There is a high chance of heavy snow during the commute.

So, how much snow has fallen so far, and how much more is expected?

Yes, a record amount of snow has already fallen.
The areas marked in purple on the map have accumulated more than 20cm of snow.
The place with the most snow nationwide is Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with a recorded snowfall of 43.9cm.
Large amounts of snow, exceeding 40cm, have also accumulated in Gwangju, Gunpo, and Gwanak District in Seoul.
The issue is that a lot more snow is expected to fall in these areas.
An additional 5 to 15cm of snow is expected in the southern Gyeonggi Province, central and southern inland Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk regions.
Seoul and Incheon are also expected to accumulate an additional 3 to 8cm of snow.
Heavy snowfall is especially expected to concentrate in the morning.
