The group NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, is taking a firm stance with a no-tolerance policy, continuing its legal actions against malicious comments, spreading false information, and deepfake crimes. They have firmly established a policy of taking stern action without settlement, defining the infringement of artists’ rights as a crime.
On the 29th, ADOR made an announcement through their official fan platform, stating, “We are strictly responding to criminal activities that infringe on the rights of our artists without settlement, including the spread of malicious false information, invasion of privacy, use of abusive language and derogatory terms, especially sexual harassment directed at minor members, and racial discrimination against foreign members.” They further revealed, “As previously announced, we filed complaints against the authors of malicious posts at the end of November.”
Even after filing complaints, ADOR has not reduced the level of their response. The company is continuously monitoring major domestic communities and social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, as well as music sites such as Melon, Bugs, and Genie Music for malicious posts. They are requesting deletion of harmful content and collecting evidence, and considering the seriousness of the issues, they have added external experts. They plan to file additional complaints for newly identified cases of harm.
ADOR reiterated their tough stance on deepfake crimes, stating, “We are clearly expressing our intention for strict punishment to investigative agencies and actively cooperating in the investigation and punishment process. Our cooperation is practically aiding smooth investigations and strong penalties, with some perpetrators being detained and sentenced this fall. We will continue to pursue all legal actions possible against deepfake crimes, without settlement or leniency.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans and ADOR have been in a contractual dispute since last November. ADOR filed a lawsuit in December last year to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts, and on October 30th this year, the court ruled in favor of ADOR.
Subsequently, in November, members Haerin and Hyein expressed their intention to continue activities under ADOR, and Daniel, Hani, and Minji also indicated their willingness to return. ADOR announced that Hani has now returned and they are in discussions with Minji. However, they informed that they have terminated the exclusive contract with Daniel. ADOR stated, “We plan to hold a family member of Daniel and former representative Min Hee-jin legally accountable for causing this dispute and the delay in NewJeans’ return.”
