The funeral proceedings for singer Wheesung have been postponed. According to an OSEN report on the 11th, there is a possibility that Wheesung’s funeral procedures may be omitted. Earlier, Tajo Entertainment, Wheesung’s agency, officially announced, “On March 10, our artist Wheesung left us. He was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his Seoul residence and was pronounced dead.” He was 43 years old.
Wheesung was found collapsed in a state of cardiac arrest at about 6:29 PM on the same day at an apartment in the Gwangjin-gu area of Seoul. Following a report from family members, the fire department was dispatched and performed emergency procedures such as CPR, but Wheesung was pronounced dead.
The cause of death has not been determined yet. As of now, there are no signs of external intrusion or suspected criminal activity, according to Seoul’s Gwangjin Police Station. They announced that an autopsy would be requested at the National Forensic Service to investigate Wheesung’s cause of death.
Furthermore, Wheesung’s funeral schedule was delayed, drawing attention. The agency stated that information regarding the funeral would be announced separately. OSEN’s report concluded that discussions are still ongoing concerning the funeral arrangements, and there is a possibility that the procedures might be omitted.
It is reported that the delay in the funeral proceedings is attributed more to the extreme shock of Wheesung’s family rather than the autopsy. Given the sudden passing of the deceased, the grief experienced by his family is unimaginable.
Wheesung’s unexpected news of passing has cast a shadow over the entertainment industry. KCM, who was to hold a concert “Wheesung X KCM Concert in Daegu” on the 15th at Daegu EXCO Auditorium along with the deceased, expressed their shock and sorrow. They stated, “We are in a state of great disbelief as well,” and added that after the sad news, they received the final cancellation notice for the concert from the organizer, offering their condolences.
