[Sports Chosun Online Reporter Kim Soo-hyun] It has been two years since the passing of BJ Imvely (Im Ji-hye), who tragically passed away following a drinking party dispute with a fellow BJ. She was 37 years old.
In 2023, the news of Imvely’s passing was shared on her personal account.
At the time, Imvely’s side stated, “We share the news of Im Ji-hye’s passing as follows,” and added, “We hope you understand our inability to contact you all personally, given the overwhelming situation.”
Before her death, Imvely attended a drinking party broadcast in Bucheon with BJs from the area. Many BJs, including the organizer, participated in sharing conversations.
However, during the broadcast, Imvely got into a verbal altercation with a fellow BJ, leading to a physical confrontation that involved her throwing her phone, and the police were called to the scene.
Ultimately, Imvely returned home, started a live broadcast, and revealed, “I can’t hold on any longer.”
She wrote to her two daughters, “My beloved daughters, I’m sorry for being an embarrassing mom. Please don’t feel guilty as it is not your fault. I promise to always watch over you, even if you cannot see me.”
Subsequently, Imvely disappeared from the camera, and it was reported that about 119 rescue workers appeared urgently before the broadcast ended.
Imvely was transported to the hospital but was reported to have fallen into a brain-dead state and ultimately did not regain consciousness.
At the time, fellow BJ Gu Ji-sung expressed, “I am a senior to Im Ji-hye (Imvely). Although we were not close, it hurts my heart as a senior. As a mother who also has a daughter more precious than myself in this world, my heart breaks. I always saw her as a glamorous and beautiful junior. I still remember her lying unconscious in the hospital bed. I heard that the bereaved family wants an investigation and punishment. I hope those who are to be punished have the opportunity to reflect,” expressing her sorrow.
Imvely made her debut as a Maxim pictorial model in 2006 and worked as a race queen for the Seoul Motor Show and a round girl for Road FC starting in 2013.
After marrying in 2014, she retired and later became an active internet broadcaster. After her divorce in 2018, she was raising her two daughters at the time.
