Veteran actor Lee Soon-jae passed away in the early morning of the 25th at the age of 91. Despite his advanced age, he continued acting, but his health began to decline late last year, prompting him to focus on health management. He canceled a theater schedule in October last year and did not attend the Korea PD Awards ceremony held in April this year.
Born in 1934 in Hoeryong, North Hamgyong Province, Lee grew up experiencing liberation and war. While studying philosophy at Seoul National University, he chose to pursue acting through films and made his debut in theater in 1956. He further advanced into television by becoming part of the first open recruitment for KBS talents in 1960, and as an exclusive actor for TBC’s first generation in 1965, marking the start of the TV era.
