“Thankful to Jeonbuk University Nurses”… Kim Shin-young Respects the Late Jeon Yoo-seong and Returns to ‘Jeonghee’ [Summary]

[OSEN=Reporter Park So-young] Kim Shin-young has returned to her main job after bidding farewell to her “mentor” Jeon Yoo-seong.

On the September 29 live broadcast of MBC FM4U’s ‘Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope’, Kim Shin-young opened with a tribute, saying, “The North Star is a lighthouse of the sea. When we lose our way or wander in life, it guides us. Meeting such a valuable person is a great blessing in life. I sincerely express my gratitude.” She then played Kim Kwang-seok’s ‘Write a Letter on a Cloudy Autumn Sky.’

She continued, “I talked about the North Star. It’s like a beacon that always stays in the same place. How many chances do we have to meet a person who is a light in our life? I sometimes wonder if there is such an adult. I unexpectedly had to step away last week. I didn’t want to explain the reason because it was too personal. I just wanted to say sorry for suddenly stepping out” and shared about witnessing the passing of Jeon Yoo-seong.

Previously, Jeon Yoo-seong passed away on the night of the 25th around 9:05 PM after battling deteriorating health due to pneumothorax at Jeonbuk University Hospital. Kim Shin-young had left ‘Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope’ a week earlier to go to the hospital and be with her mentor in his final moments. The production team initially described her absence as “personal matters,” but it was later revealed that the true reason was to be with her mentor at the end.

Kim Shin-young added, “Honestly, I didn’t think of anything but running straight to him. The production team approved it. I apologized because it was personal. I’m really thankful to special DJ Nara. I couldn’t thank the nurses at Jeonbuk University’s 24th Ward working in three shifts. I want to convey my gratitude to them,” expressing her thanks to those who supported her and were there for her mentor.

She further stated, “Thanks to many people, I could do what I had to do. It wasn’t something I could do alone. I also thank the listeners who waited for me. Please give me a week. After a week, I’ll be back in full swing and even hold Shin-young Night. Let’s comfort each other during this week,” adding, “Though the professor is gone, the comedy philosophy and the stories about comedy he left behind will continue to live on.”

The late Jeon Yoo-seong was a pivotal figure in the Korean comedy world, having discovered numerous junior comedians. Many are offering their condolences to Kim Shin-young, who has inherited his humor and spirit.
