Wheesung was found dead at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the 10th.
Police and fire authorities, who responded to a report from Wheesung’s mother, believe that a significant time had passed since Wheesung’s death at the time of discovery. It’s reported that there were no signs of external intrusion or criminal activity.
The Chosun Ilbo reported that a syringe was found near Wheesung’s body, discovered at his home on the 10th.
The media quoted, “Police and fire officials discovered a syringe near the body while handling the situation,” and informed, “The National Forensic Service is planning to perform an autopsy on the body on the morning of the 12th to determine if Choi (Wheesung’s real name) injected substances and whether the injected substances were drugs.”
A police official stated, “It is difficult to disclose detailed information as it is under investigation.”
The police, who revealed plans to conduct a forensic analysis of Wheesung’s phone with the family’s consent, have also reported that no note or evidence of an intentional decision has been found.
Tajo Entertainment, Wheesung’s agency, expressed deep sorrow: “All family members, fellow artists, and staff at Tajo Entertainment are mourning the sudden tragic news. We’re deeply pained to report such heartbreaking news to the fans who have continuously supported and loved Wheesung. We ask you to pray for the deceased’s repose so that Wheesung may rest in peace.”
Additionally, KCM, a fellow artist, expressed sorrow with a message: “Sorry, Seong-a, we were supposed to meet on March 15…,” as he mourned Wheesung’s passing.
Following this, KCM announced the closure of his restaurant in Jeju Island, adding to the sadness.
Wheesung was set to hold a joint concert, “The Story,” with KCM at the Daegu EXCO Auditorium on the 15th. Wheesung had been preparing for the performance, even going on a diet to meet his fans, making the sudden tragic news all the more heartbreaking.
