[Sports Chosun’s Kim Jun-seok] Shindong, a member of the group Super Junior, revealed the story behind his estrangement from his parents.
During episodes 8 and 9 of the Disney+ variety show “Fate War 49,” which aired on the 25th, a “War of Gods” mission was depicted, with Shindong sitting in front of fortune tellers to confess his concerns.
On this day, Shindong admitted he wanted a reading and confessed that claiming he had overseas schedules was a lie. He was curious about what his future holds, especially regarding marriage and the number of children he might have, and he selected Seolhwa and Choi Hanna as fortune tellers.
Seolhwa mentioned, “You say you want to get married, but it’s just talk. You don’t trust women. You should meet a younger woman who seems older, even one much younger.” Shindong replied, “That’s fine,” which brought laughter.
Shindong then commented, “She is very similar to my ex-girlfriend.” Seolhwa responded, “You almost got married.” Surprised, Shindong admitted, “I really was going to get married,” shocking everyone.
Regarding his family, Seolhwa said, “Your mother seems fine, so why are you always worried about money?” Shindong then opened up, saying, “Honestly, I don’t keep in touch with my parents right now.”
He explained, “The reason is mostly because of money. Problems arose due to money,” and revealed, “When I gave my mom living expenses, she’d say, ‘Don’t give it monthly. Give it all at once so I can do something and not make you worry.’ She always wanted more money,” and added, “She ended up being scammed and lost everything in a bad investment.”
Shindong also candidly shared his loneliness and desire for marriage, saying, “I’ve wanted to experience marriage since I was young. I thought that was happiness.”
Contrasting with the glamorous image of a star on stage, Shindong’s confession about his family-related wounds and loneliness has evoked sympathy from viewers.
