New Jeans 5 Members, New Group Name ‘NJZ’… Minji: “Excited for NJZ’s First Performance” [MD Issue]
[My Daily = Reporter Lee Seung-gil] The group New Jeans, consisting of five members, was looking for a temporary new name and it is ‘NJZ’. They have been included in the lineup for ‘ComplexCon Hong Kong’ happening this March.
ComplexCon announced this on the 7th, stating, “The artist lineup for the ‘Complex Live’ concert series at ComplexCon Hong Kong includes NJZ (formerly New Jeans), which is expected to capture the attention of fans. This event marks NJZ’s first activity after changing the group’s name, which had previously garnered much attention.”
According to ComplexCon, NJZ member Minji expressed, “I’m very excited to be on stage for the first time as NJZ, showcasing a new side. This performance is a very important moment, and I eagerly anticipate sharing the new music we’ve wanted to present with fans worldwide.”
The lineup for this event includes famous artists from various countries such as Korea, China, Japan, and Hong Kong. It features artists like Zico, B.I, rapper Sik-K, Changmo, record producer Lil Moshpit, and Chinese-American rapper MC Jin, the first Asian-American rapper to sign with a major record label in the US.
Meanwhile, previously on the 23rd of last month, New Jeans members (Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) posted on the jeanzforfree account, “Bunnies!! We’re holding a two-day open call for our new temporary activity name. We would appreciate a lot of participation in the comments!”
In a previous press conference, New Jeans emphasized the identity and symbolism in their name, stating they had no intention to give up the name New Jeans. However, the issue of using the name is a core legal dispute, leading to the decision to collect a temporary activity name for now.
