A shocking sexual crime case was reported on ‘Issue Makers’, a segment of JTBC’s program. On the broadcast aired on the 4th, a female informant in her 30s revealed that she was sexually assaulted and illegally filmed after participating in a couple’s broadcast proposed by her boyfriend and his acquaintance, who is a BJ (Broadcast Jockey). The informant had been in a relationship with her boyfriend for about a year and a half. The incident began last August when she met her boyfriend’s acquaintance. The acquaintance introduced himself as an entertainment business worker and BJ, offering a small appearance fee to conduct a couple’s broadcast at a pension in Jebu-do. When the informant hesitated, her boyfriend persuaded her to agree.
On the day of the filming, the BJ arrived at the pension first, and the boyfriend bought whiskey on the way, explaining that the BJ requested it. The informant claimed that during the broadcast, she lost consciousness after drinking alcohol provided during the broadcast. In a statement to ‘Issue Makers’, she said, “I drank about two to four glasses of whiskey and then lost memory during the broadcast,” and testified that she was raped by the BJ. She also said, “My boyfriend was right there. I screamed in shock, and the BJ quickly left. I heard the sound of the video turning off.”
The informant suspects that the incident was broadcast live. Upon receiving the report, the police carried out an immediate emergency arrest. Forensic analysis of the phones revealed communications between the boyfriend and the BJ discussing drugging and spiking drinks with alcohol.
The informant’s mother submitted a petition demanding strict punishment. However, it was reported that the boyfriend’s family is pressuring them to write a petition against punishment. The broadcast also shared testimonies from other victims who suffered similarly, suggesting additional possible victims. The BJ in question is reportedly active on an overseas platform.
