Lee Ji-ah’s father, currently in a dispute over land formerly owned by pro-Japanese figure Kim Sun-heung… ‘Forgery of Private Documents’ Record Also Confirmed

Dispute Over Land in Anyang City… Reported by Family
Previous Convictions for Forgery and Fraud

On February 19, [The Fact] reported that actor Lee Ji-ah’s father, identified only as Mr. Kim, is embroiled in a legal dispute with his family over land in Anyang City. The main issue is the alleged forgery of a power of attorney.

Mr. Kim, the youngest of twelve siblings from the late Kim Soon-heung’s family, is suspected of forging a power of attorney using the seals of his older siblings. Separate from this case, Mr. Kim has been fined for document forgery and has served a prison sentence for forgery and fraud.

On February 7, the Anyang branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office cleared Mr. Kim of the forgery and document use charges due to insufficient evidence. Previously, the Anyang Manan Police transferred the case to the prosecution after investigating Mr. Kim on these charges.

The family, including a member identified as A, believes the prosecutors’ decision was influenced by the approaching statute of limitations and has filed a request for judicial review.

The dispute originated from the redemption process of a large piece of land left by the late Kim Soon-heung in Anyang City. Initially used for military purposes, the land became subject to a first right of repurchase by the heirs after the military vacated it in 2013. However, the siblings discovered an unauthorized mortgage contract worth 16.9 billion won had been made, allegedly involving Mr. Kim’s seal as the representative owner of the land.

Upon further investigation, they learned that Mr. Kim was never authorized by the siblings to act on their behalf. Thus, they initiated legal action to nullify the mortgage registration set by Mr. Kim.

Despite several petitions, the police prosecutor concluded with non-indictment, but A persists, questioning the timing and thoroughness of the inquiry. A series of legal troubles involving Mr. Kim’s forgery activities with family members have been unearthed, including fraudulent legal documents bearing forged signatures.

Mr. Kim contends, however, that he acted under legitimate authorization and sees no wrongdoing. Despite the ongoing family and legal struggle, he refuted his relatives’ claims, attributing actions to their direction.

Previously described as stemming from a respected, affluent family, Mr. Kim’s current challenges contradict that image.
