Lee Guk-joo sheds tears and admits, “I was actually hurt by being teased as ‘fatty,’ and I’m contemplating whether I should continue being a celebrity.”

[Sports Chosun Online Reporter Lee Ge-eun] Comedian Lee Guk-joo shed tears as she talked about her struggles during her unknown years and her current concerns.

On the 2nd, a video titled “Guk-joo’s Home – Ahn Jae-hyun, Kwak Beom Episode” was released on Lee Guk-joo’s channel ‘Lee Guk-joo.’

On this day, Lee Guk-joo shared stories about her unknown years with Kwak Beom and Ahn Jae-hyun. Lee Guk-joo said, “I’m one of those who became successful after spending ten years unknown. I debuted at 21 when I knew nothing, and whether someone cursed at me, bullied me, or called me ‘fatty,’ I thought it was normal. I endured it thinking it was just how it was.” She continued, “But when I came home and thought about it, I started crying. I realized I lived like a crazy person for over ten years. I was running without any time to take care of myself,” she said, shedding tears.

Lee Guk-joo shared, “Honestly, it’s tough these days. Turning 40 has significant meaning, and I feel like I need to make some decisions. Whether to get married, if I should do it soon, and whether to continue with my career just because I want to—all these thoughts are confusing. I’m not as busy as I was in my prime.” To ease these confusing feelings, she recently traveled to Japan alone frequently.

Kwak Beom lightened the somewhat heavy mood by joking, “Considering you’ve been running for ten years, you haven’t lost much weight, have you?” Lee Guk-joo laughed, saying, “You don’t comfort me when I talk about sad stories?” She added, “Even painful pasts become funny episodes like this, so even when I think of difficult things, you make me laugh.”

Meanwhile, Lee Guk-joo debuted as part of the 15th open recruitment for comedians by MBC in 2006 and is set to appear on Comedy TV’s ‘Ultimate Table.’
