[Interview ①] Kim Woo-bin Speaks Out on ‘All Will Be Fulfilled’ Director Change… “I Wanted to Finish with Director Lee Byung-hun”

Actor Kim Woo-bin (36) talked about the director change in ‘All Will Be Fulfilled.’ On the morning of the 13th, Kim Woo-bin sat down for an interview with Sports Chosun at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, regarding the Netflix original series ‘All Will Be Fulfilled’ (written by Kim Eun-sook, directed by Lee Byung-hun and Ahn Gil-ho). Kim Woo-bin expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am so happy to finally introduce a project that has been in the works for a long time. We were able to release it over a long holiday, allowing us to breathe together with the audience. All works are bound to have mixed reactions. Our series contains a lot of stories that provoke thought, so it’s natural to have varied opinions. Whatever the reaction, it’s appreciated as they have genuinely engaged with our drama.”

‘All Will Be Fulfilled’ had an incident where the initial director Lee Byung-hun was replaced by director Ahn Gil-ho. Regarding this, Kim Woo-bin said, “On set, new things always happen, so I didn’t feel extreme discomfort from the director change. Personally, it was a bit disappointing. I have a connection with director Lee, having worked on ‘Twenty’ together, and hoped to finish this project with him too. However, director Ahn, who joined later, led us well and maintained the atmosphere, so we concluded happily.”

When asked about the differences between the two directors, Kim jokingly commented on the physical differences, saying, “Their faces are different,” but added, “Both are great directors who consider the staff’s needs a lot. I didn’t think there was a huge difference, but I got to work with good directors.”

‘All Will Be Fulfilled’ is a zero-stress, fantasy romantic comedy about a genie who awakens after a thousand years of dormancy and meets the emotionally detached human, Ga-young, resulting in three wish-granting escapades. According to Netflix’s Tudum TOP 10 website, the series garnered 4,000,000 views (calculated by dividing the watch time by the total running time of the work) within just three days of release, ranking 5th in the global TOP 10 series (non-English) category. Additionally, it has held the top spot in ‘South Korea’s TOP 10 series’ since its release and is in the TOP 10 lists of 46 countries worldwide, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Brazil, Czech Republic, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Egypt, and Morocco.
