[Sports Chosun Reporter Cho Yoon-sun] Comedian Kim Hyo-jin revealed that she achieved her dream of becoming a ‘madam’.
On the January 14th broadcast of SBS’s “Shoes Off, Single for Men,” guests Cho Hye-ryun, Kim Ji-sun, Kim Hyo-jin, and Jung Ga-eun made an appearance.
Lee Sang-min mentioned, “Kim Hyo-jin’s childhood dream was to become a madam, and she says she achieved that dream thanks to her husband.”
Kim Hyo-jin responded, “That’s not incorrect. It’s true. Growing up, my family’s situation wasn’t affluent, and I had to take on responsibilities for our livelihood early on, so I dreamt of getting married and living economically comfortable, being called a madam due to my husband’s support.”
She continued, “Back when we were dating, my husband also dreamed of becoming a businessman. He said, ‘I’ll become a successful businessman, make you a madam who gets respect outside, and let you live comfortably.’ However, after we got married, things didn’t go well. Though my husband worked hard, he faced crises and tough times.”
Then one day, her husband expressed a desire to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a pastor. After marrying and having children, he pursued theological studies and became a pastor two years ago. Kim Hyo-jin added, “It’s not the madam I imagined, but I became a different kind of madam. I achieved my dream, and my husband kept his promise. I became a pastor’s wife. Hallelujah,” eliciting laughter.
Cho Hye-ryun chimed in, saying, “I’ve known Kim Hyo-jin for a long time, and she used to be quite wild,” to which Kim Hyo-jin humorously retorted, “I was indeed a sinner. But weren’t you, too? Didn’t you curse and drink with me?”
In another segment, Kim Hyo-jin shared her experience of naturally conceiving a second daughter at the age of 45. She said, “The chances of natural conception were less than 3%, so in a way, it was a miraculous blessing.”
She further explained, “Many people thought we tried hard for a second child given the 8-year gap with the first, but with my age, I had come to terms with having just one child and had let go of the idea.”
Kim Hyo-jin said, “If I had planned and considered pregnancy, I would’ve noticed, but when I missed my period, I assumed it was early menopause at 45. I found an old pregnancy test kit from my first pregnancy, past its expiration date, but decided to try it just in case. There was a faint line, and not being sure, I bought a new kit, and it showed a clear positive result.”
Regarding her first child’s reaction to the news of the second pregnancy, Kim Hyo-jin said, “Usually, only children want a sibling, but our first child often said, ‘I don’t need a sibling. I enjoy having all the love from mom and dad.’ Because of this, we didn’t consider another child, but when the second came unexpectedly, we were cautious about how to tell our first child. When we gently announced, ‘You have a sibling in mom’s belly,’ the first child cried and caused a fuss.”
She continued, “The first child’s reaction was much more shocking than I expected, as they didn’t want a sibling. They had always asked for a dog, not a sibling. They cried, ‘When did I ever ask for a sibling? If this is the case, just get me a dog instead.'”
