The article reports on conflicting claims between actress Kim Sae-ron’s family and Kim Soo-hyun regarding the dating period during her minor years. It has emerged that Kim Sae-ron allegedly dated a well-known idol member around 2018, rather than Kim Soo-hyun. According to Money Today on the 21st, Kim Sae-ron, who was in her senior year of high school in 2018, was reportedly dating an older famous idol member, referred to as A. Kim Sae-ron and A reportedly broke up briefly in early 2019 but reunited by early to mid-2022.
This period coincides with Kim Sae-ron’s drunk driving incident. A is reported to have lent a large sum of money to Kim Sae-ron, who was experiencing financial difficulties, and she introduced A as her boyfriend to acquaintances. Although they broke up in early 2023, they reportedly kept in touch until last year.
An entertainment industry insider stated, “Kim Sae-ron continued to meet A as friends after their breakup,” adding that mentioning Kim Sae-ron and A’s relationship is to clarify the timeline of her dating Kim Soo-hyun. The insider expressed opposition to reckless exposure of A’s personal details. There were also claims that Kim Sae-ron’s former romantic partner was from a famous seven-member idol group, but these claims are said to be incorrect.
Since March, Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron’s family have been in a dispute over whether they dated during her minor years. Kim Sae-ron’s side is claiming through the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute that she dated Kim Soo-hyun from late 2015, during her third year of middle school, until July 2021. However, Kim Soo-hyun’s side counters that their relationship began in the summer of 2019, after she became an adult, and ended in fall 2020.
Ultimately, the matter has escalated to legal action. Kim Soo-hyun’s side has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim Sae-ron’s family and Kim Se-ui, the head of Garo Sero Institute, along with a 11 billion won damages claim. Kim Sae-ron’s family also announced they had filed a complaint against Kim Soo-hyun for violating the Child Welfare Act and false accusation during a press conference held on the 7th.
