Former entertainment journalist and YouTuber Lee Jin-ho revealed behind-the-scenes stories from his interview with actress Go Hyun-jung. In the video released on the YouTube channel ‘Entertainment President’ on the 28th, Lee Jin-ho shared that actress Go Hyun-jung appeared on the tvN program ‘You Quiz on the Block’ (commonly known as ‘You Quiz’) that aired on the 27th.
“It was her first variety show appearance in 15 years. She openly shared her debut process, behind-the-scenes stories from the drama ‘The Sandglass,’ and her life as an actress,” he added.
Lee Jin-ho recollected, “Go Hyun-jung showed me pictures and chatted about her children. She eventually mentioned, ‘The children are growing up so beautifully and properly,’ with tears welling up in her eyes. I was quite shocked to see that.”
He continued, “Go Hyun-jung said, ‘As a mother, I feel regretful that I can’t meet and closely observe my children as often as I want. Still, I am truly grateful for raising them so properly and beautifully.’ Of course, she didn’t specify who she was thanking. However, as a person, Go Hyun-jung may have situations she finds unfair. Yet, she only expresses regret and frustration about herself and does not blame anyone.”
Lee Jin-ho further stated, “During my career as an entertainment journalist, I have interviewed hundreds of celebrities. Among them, Go Hyun-jung was one of the ones who broke my preconceived notions the most.”
Meanwhile, Go Hyun-jung debuted in the entertainment industry after being selected as a runner-up in the 1989 Miss Korea Pageant. She rose to stardom with the 1995 SBS TV drama ‘The Sandglass.’ However, she announced her retirement from the entertainment industry the same year after marrying Jung Yong-jin, chairman of the Shinsegae Group.
She had a son and daughter with Chairman Jung, but they divorced by mutual agreement in 2003, eight years into their marriage. In 2005, she returned to the entertainment industry with the SBS TV drama ‘Spring Days.’ She has since delivered various hits, including ‘What’s Up Fox?’ (2006), ‘Hit’ (2007), ‘The President’ (2010), ‘The Queen’s Classroom’ (2013), ‘Return’ (2018), ‘Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho 2: Crime and Punishment’ (2019), ‘Mask Girl’ (2023), and films like ‘Like You Know It All’ (2009) and ‘Actresses’ (2009).
Go Hyun-jung is set to greet viewers with ‘Namib,’ premiering on December 23 at 10 p.m., a star creation project between a fired producer, ‘Kang Su-hyun’ (Go Hyun-jung), and a dismissed trainee, ‘Yoo Jin-woo’ (Ryeoun).
