Choi Min-hwan Divorce: Yulhee, Leaving Home → Quick Custody Relinquishment & No Child Support…”Unfit as a Mother” How Will She Handle the Turning Public Opinion?

[SC Issue] The shocking details of the divorce between Yulhee, formerly of the group Laboum, and Choi Minhwan, formerly of FT Island, have been revealed.

A YouTuber claimed on the 23rd that the couple’s divorce was due to conflicts from differences in daily lifestyle and parenting views, as well as Yulhee’s sudden departure from home.

According to the YouTuber, Yulhee struggled with the routine of being a night owl and having to cover caring for their three children early in the morning. Tasks like taking the children to and from kindergarten became Choi Minhwan’s responsibility, especially since Yulhee chose a prestigious kindergarten that required a lengthy three-hour round trip and lacked shuttle services. When Minhwan was busy, even his relatives had to step in.

The couple had appeared on Channel A’s show ‘Oh Eun-young’s Golden Counseling Center’ before their divorce, where they failed to reconcile their differing views on education. Yulhee spent about 8 million won a month on things like English lessons and ballet classes for their children because she wanted to give them everything. In contrast, Minhwan disagreed, believing that the children should learn to be more restrained, and was unable to understand Yulhee’s parenting style, leading to frequent arguments.

A significant turning point in their relationship came when Minhwan’s activities were hampered by the pandemic, affecting their household finances. This led Yulhee to begin work as an influencer, increasing her activities outside and causing more conflicts.

The YouTuber claimed that Yulhee had left home abruptly for 4-5 days right before an FT Island concert, which deeply troubled Minhwan. Though she returned home shortly after, the divorce announcement soon followed.

However, the divorce process went smoothly. The YouTuber explained, “The custody agreement proceeded without any issues because Yulhee quickly relinquished custody for the children’s sake. There were no specific agreements on visitation rights or times, and Minhwan agreed not to receive any child support from Yulhee, while she agreed to forgo any division of assets.”

Yulhee appeared on the TV Chosun show ‘Now Alone’ aired on the 22nd, showing her life as an influencer after the divorce. She shared that it wasn’t her decision to divorce and that she transferred custody of the three children to Minhwan for their benefit, expressing how hard it was to make that decision as a parent.

Nevertheless, revelations that Yulhee quickly gave up custody, would not be providing child support, and had temporarily left home have led the public to turn against her. Online, criticism is mounting, with comments like “Shouldn’t she at least pay child support?” and “She ran away from home but went on a divorce show and cried?”
