“61-year-old Lee Geum-hee goes to hospital due to worsening health… Broadcast activities in jeopardy ‘Advised to stay silent'”

[Sports Chosun’s Kim Soo-hyun reports] Broadcaster Lee Geum-hee revealed her current situation as she undergoes treatment in a hospital due to health issues, evoking sympathy. It has been reported that she was advised to refrain from speaking due to compounded issues of a sore throat and vocal cord swelling.

On the 13th, Lee Geum-hee shared a photo from the hospital, where she is receiving IV treatment, accompanied by an apology.

In the photo, she appears to be resting while receiving treatment, causing concern among fans.

Regarding her current condition, Lee Geum-hee explained, “I have a severe sore throat, and my vocal cords are very swollen, so I’ve been advised by my doctor not to use my voice for a while,” describing her situation as one that requires silence.

This news is particularly worrying given her past experiences of losing her voice due to vocal cord issues. Previously, Lee Geum-hee appeared on Channel A’s ‘Bestie’s Talkumentary 4-Person Table’ last year, where she shared her experience of deteriorating vocal health.

At that time, she revealed that she had suffered from acute laryngitis due to extreme stress from caring for her sick mother, stating, “I couldn’t speak for two weeks and was unable to host my radio show. I was shocked when the hospital diagnosed that I wouldn’t be able to produce sound for two weeks.”

Despite consistently managing her vocal health through voice clinics, Lee Geum-hee’s condition has worsened again, necessitating treatment and rest.

Meanwhile, Lee Geum-hee started her career as a KBS 16th-generation public announcer in 1989 and was loved by the public as a national announcer while hosting flagship programs like ‘TV Carries Love’ and ‘Morning Forum.’ She is currently working as a freelance broadcaster.
