Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, ‘House of Shinsegae’ 1st Anniversary Gourmet Festival

(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Seong Hye-mi: Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam branch announced on the 9th that its restaurant area “House of Shinsegae,” celebrating its first anniversary, will hold a gourmet festival for two weeks until the 22nd, with 13 in-store brands participating.

‘Yoon Haeundae Galbi’ will release a Tomahawk steak set dry-aged by chef David Lee, and ‘Kim Susa’ will introduce crab fritters in collaboration with chef Yoon Tae-ho, among a variety of products.

On the 14th and 15th, the ‘Jazz Music Korea Ensemble’ will perform at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the B1 Central Hall.

Choi Won-jun, head of the food division at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “House of Shinsegae has established itself as a cultural content space that reflects customers’ tastes and emotions, beyond just a dining area. This first anniversary festival aims to offer a special experience beyond gastronomy.”

House of Shinsegae was opened last June in the space previously occupied by Shinsegae Duty Free. Focusing on the demand for enjoying meals with drinks, it applied the strategy of ‘opening the department store at night.’

Operating hours were extended from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the implementation of rare operational methods in department store dining areas, such as wine pairing in all stores, changing lighting and music by time of day, table service, charcoal grilling, and omakase (chef’s choice) arrangements.

The number of new customers without prior purchase history at the Gangnam branch increased by 61%, with more than half being in their 20s and 30s, and foreign sales also showed an upward trend.

74% of customers visiting House of Shinsegae also used the dessert specialty store ‘Sweet Park.’

The ‘Wine Cellar’ located on the first floor of House of Shinsegae, which houses over 300 types of champagne and rare wines, has also established itself as a ‘wine sanctuary,’ according to Shinsegae.
