[Herald Economy’s Reporter Park Hye-won] Lotte Fine Chemical, which included a QR donation campaign and efforts in eco-friendly specialty projects in its sustainability report published this year, has won the grand prize at a global competition for the fourth consecutive year.
Lotte Fine Chemical announced on the 2nd that it has received the platinum award in the chemicals category at the ‘Vision Awards’ from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP), an annual and sustainability report global management competition. The company also ranked 37th in the ‘Worldwide Top 100’ reports and 17th in the ‘Asia Pacific Top 100’, winning in five categories overall.
For the past three years, Lotte Fine Chemical has included a ‘Sustainable Management QR Donation Campaign’ in its reports. By scanning the QR code to view the report, participants join Lotte Fine Chemical’s global donation efforts, with over 200,000 participants in total. Initially, the campaign supported livelihood assistance for the victims of the Türkiye earthquake, and last year it provided saplings to combat desertification in Bayankhongor, Mongolia. This year, donations were made to earthquake-affected areas in Myanmar.
The report also included efforts to expand eco-friendly businesses such as high-value specialty projects. Lotte Fine Chemical plans to complete the expansion of a plant for cellulose, a plant-based pharmaceutical material that replaces animal-based materials, by the second half of this year. It also intends to participate in the government-led Clean Hydrogen Power Generation Procurement (CHPS) to contribute to carbon reduction.
Lotte Fine Chemical’s CEO, Jeong Seung-won, stated, “We are pleased to have won the grand prize for four consecutive years at this prestigious global report competition. This reflects not only the elevation of Lotte Fine Chemical’s ESG management standards but also the effective communication of efforts linked to strengthening our high-value specialty business and expanding eco-friendly initiatives.”
