Jeju Air finally takes off to Indonesia… Expanding routes to diversify in the Indonesian skies

Starting from the 16th, Jeju Air initiated a regular flight schedule between Incheon and Batam, Indonesia—a first for the airline. The route will operate four times a week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flights to Batam will depart from Incheon at 9:05 PM and arrive at Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam at 1:30 AM the following day. The return flight departs Batam at 2:45 AM and lands back in Incheon at 11:25 AM.

However, from the 27th onwards, the schedule will change, with flights departing Incheon at 5:45 PM and arriving in Batam at 10:30 PM. Return flights will leave Batam at 11:45 PM, arriving in Incheon at 8:35 AM the next day.

Batam, part of Indonesia’s northern Riau Islands, is known for its affordable cost of living, ties with Singapore, and abundant tourist resources, making it one of Indonesia’s top three tourist destinations. Its mild weather and high-quality golf courses, named among the world’s top 100, make it a famous golf destination as well. As Indonesia’s first free trade area, the entire island is designated as a duty-free zone, allowing for more economical travel and shopping experiences.

The island is just about a 30-minute ferry ride (29 km) from Singapore, offering the unique advantage of experiencing two countries in one trip. Visitors can explore traditional villages, observe wildlife and flora in mangrove jungle expeditions, and enjoy various outdoor sports like golf, kayaking, and surfing.

In addition to Batam, Jeju Air plans to launch flights to Bali, one of the world’s top vacation destinations, also known as the Island of the Gods, on the 27th to further facilitate travel to Indonesia.

A Jeju Air representative highlighted, “By diversifying our routes, we’re expanding our flight paths to Indonesia, offering more choices to consumers. We expect to contribute to the revitalization of Korean tourism by attracting passenger and transfer demand not only from Indonesia but also from neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.”
