“LS Group recently selected the late Captain Park Hyun-woo and Village Chief Kwon Young-sun, who died while suppressing fires and rescuing neighbors at a recent wildfire site in the Gyeongbuk region, as the second recipients of the ‘LS Love Story’ initiative and provided each bereaved family with 20 million won in consolation money,” it was announced on the 3rd.
Captain Park suffered a helicopter crash on March 26 while conducting wildfire suppression operations in Gyoan-ri, Sinpyeong-myeon, Uiseong-gun. He directed the helicopter, which was heading toward residential areas, toward a hillside, sacrificing himself. Village Chief Kwon from Samui-ri, Seokbo-myeon, Yeongyang-gun, on March 25, after evacuating with his family to a safe place, returned to the fire site to help the villagers who stayed behind and met with a tragic end.
An LS representative stated, “We express deep respect for the dedication and noble sacrifice of those who demonstrated neighborly love even at the wildfire site.”
Since last year, LS has been conducting a new social contribution activity called the ‘LS Love Story’ to discover and support individuals or groups who have dedicated themselves to the nation and their neighbors.
