Major corporations have stepped forward to donate funds and supply relief goods for the recovery of areas affected by wildfires in the Yeongnam region.
SK Group announced on the 26th that they will be donating 2 billion won worth of relief funds and goods to the Community Chest of Korea and the National Disaster Relief Association for recovery efforts and aid to those affected by the wildfires in Yeongnam. The donation will be used for restoring the affected areas and providing support to the residents.
SK affiliates have also joined in the relief efforts. Since the 23rd, SK Hynix has been providing 800 sets of relief tents and floor mats, as well as 1,500 relief kits to the wildfire victims in Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province, and Yeongdong County, North Chungcheong Province, through its Hi-Safety project.
Telecom affiliates such as SK Telecom, SK Broadband, SK O&S, and Home & Service have been operating support booths since the 22nd in temporary shelters for wildfire victims at Danseong Middle School in Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province, and Uiseong Gymnasium in Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province. They are providing IPTV and Wi-Fi services, as well as relief supplies like mobile phone chargers, power banks, and wet wipes.
On the same day, POSCO Group announced that led by POSCO Holdings, along with POSCO, POSCO International, POSCO E&C, POSCO Future M, and POSCO DX, they have decided to donate 2 billion won in disaster funds to the “Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association.”
Additionally, they plan to support the wildfire victims in the Gyeongsangbuk-do area, where the headquarters of major POSCO companies are located, by providing “Emergency Relief Kits for Wildfire Victims” containing hygiene products, blankets, emergency food, and other essential items.
Doosan Group also announced that they will donate 500 million won to help the residents in the affected areas. The donation will be used for providing emergency housing facilities, daily necessities for the affected residents, and for restoring houses and facilities.
