Lotte and five of its subsidiaries are collaborating with Nintendo’s “Super Mario” for a large-scale event. From the 19th of the current month until January 11th of next year, Lotte will host this event, dubbed “JOYFUL HOLIDAY in LOTTE WORLD MALL,” at Jamsil Lotte World Mall for the first time in Korea.
The event will use characters from Super Mario, a globally loved intellectual property (IP) that has transcended its roots as a mere game character to become a cultural icon over the last 40 years. Lotte’s five subsidiaries will pool their resources from sectors including distribution, food and beverages, fashion, and online services to transform the entire mall into a festive scene.
The event will feature various attractions such as a Nintendo Pop-Up Store in Seoul presented by Lotte Department Store, showcasing exclusive and rare goods. Visitors can expect to see official merchandise from Japan’s Nintendo store, including items from popular IPs like Super Mario and Animal Crossing, and about 100 new products debuting in Korea, which will likely draw significant interest from enthusiasts.
Additionally, the event offers interactive experiences and exhibitions, including the “Joyful Holiday Bridge” on a connecting bridge between World Mall and World Tower, featuring large photo zones with Super Mario characters. A “Joyful Holiday Pipe Road” photo zone will also be set up in the basement, inspired by the iconic pipes from the game. A large experience area where attendees can enjoy various Nintendo Switch 2 games will also be available. On the fourth floor, the “Super Mario Brothers 40th Anniversary History Board” will take visitors through the franchise’s journey from its debut in 1985 to the present.
During the first weekend of the pop-up (November 22-23), the “Mario Kart World 2025 Fall Event Match” will be held at the 7th-floor Cine Park in Lotte World Mall. A digital stamp rally using the Lotte On app will also be conducted, allowing visitors to collect stamps from the various exhibition and experience zones to win prizes like Mario LEGO and photo cards.
A Lotte representative stated that they aim to provide every visitor to Jamsil Lotte World Mall with unforgettable joy and memories this holiday season through this collaboration celebrating Super Mario’s 40th anniversary.
