“Yongsan Group Drug Case”: 30s sentenced to prison for selling drugs to police officer involved in fatal fall

A man in his 30s who sold drugs to a police officer, who later fell and died during a drug gathering at an apartment in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in 2023, has been sentenced to prison. The Seoul Western District Court sentenced Mr. Moon, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, to one year and six months in prison and fined 1.34 million won. Previously, Mr. Moon was tried for selling drugs to Officer A, who was affiliated with the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency and died from the fall. The gathering, which involved around 20 people including Officer A, came to light after his death. Two individuals, Mr. Lee and Mr. Jeong, who led the meeting, had their sentences confirmed last year by the Supreme Court to four years and six months, and three years and six months in prison, respectively.
