Kazakh National Arrested for Assaulting Church Member from Russia
A foreign national who used brass knuckles to assault another church member has been arrested by the police.
On the 25th, the Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station announced the arrest of a Kazakhstani man in his 30s, identified as A, on charges of special assault.
A is accused of assaulting a Russian national, identified as B, at a foreigner church in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan District, Gwangju, on the evening of the 22nd, around 9 PM. He allegedly used metal brass knuckles to attack B. It was reported that B suffered no major injuries due to a thick coat.
The investigation revealed that A committed the crime because he believed the pastor and other congregation members were ostracizing and disrespecting him. It was confirmed that A was not under the influence of alcohol or substances at the time.
Considering the risk of reoffending, the police applied for an arrest warrant for A, which was subsequently issued.
