(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Jin-song – The scope of eligibility for priority rental housing rights will be expanded to ensure stable housing and strengthen the self-sufficiency foundation for victims of domestic violence.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 20th that the revised “Enforcement Decree of the Domestic Violence Prevention and Victim Protection Act” will be promulgated and enforced on the 21st.
According to the revised enforcement decree, victims who have lived for more than one year in a residential support facility supported by the Minister of Gender Equality and Family will be granted priority rights to rental housing by public housing operators like the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
The residency requirement in the residential support facility has been relaxed from the current “two years or more” to “one year or more.”
Victims needing support such as entering a domestic violence shelter, residential support facilities, or assistance with rental housing due to domestic violence can inquire through the Women’s Emergency Call ☎1366, domestic violence counseling centers, or nearby local governments.
