The Constitutional Court has requested a response from President Yoon regarding the impeachment motion. They have also asked the National Assembly and the Ministry of Justice to submit their opinions before the first preparatory hearing date. We now connect with our field reporter.
**Reporter:**
Did the copy of the impeachment motion reach President Yoon yesterday morning (the 16th)?
**Reporter:**
This morning, on his way to work, Constitutional Court Judge Kim Hyeong-du stated that President Yoon is requested to submit a response to the impeachment resolution within seven days.
He is asked to respond by the 23rd.
**[Kim Hyeong-du/Constitutional Court Judge:]** “There is a formal phrase requesting the immediate submission of a response to the impeachment resolution upon notification of its receipt. We’ve sent that out.”
The Constitutional Court announced just a while ago in a press conference that they attempted to deliver the notification to President Yoon in three different ways but have not yet completed the delivery.
Firstly, although a Constitutional Court employee went directly to the presidential office to hand the notification to an administrator, they did not receive a receipt.
They also sent the notification via mail and online administrative systems, but it has been confirmed that neither method has yet officially completed the delivery.
The Constitutional Court sent the impeachment notification to both the National Assembly and the Ministry of Justice, requesting their opinions, and stated that the delivery to these two institutions has been completed.

The Constitutional Court has decided not to live broadcast President Yoon’s impeachment trial process, correct?
**Reporter:**
Once the preparation procedures for the trial conclude, the official public hearing for the impeachment trial will begin.
The Constitutional Court has announced that they do not plan to broadcast the trial process live.
An impeachment trial must be concluded within 180 days from the date of case acceptance, meaning by June 11 next year.
The impeachment of former President Roh Moo-hyun took 63 days, while the impeachment during former President Park Geun-hye’s trial took 91 days.
However, there are variables, such as the current ‘six-member system,’ which has three fewer judges than the full quorum of nine at the Constitutional Court. The court announced that they are discussing whether the six judges can decide on President Yoon’s impeachment trial.
In response to Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People’s Power party, stating that acting President Han Duck-soo cannot appoint three new judges, a Constitutional Court representative mentioned that during former President Park Geun-hye’s impeachment, there was a precedent where acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn appointed a Constitutional Court judge.
