Song Jae-man, a council member of Yuseong District in Daejeon, calls for measures to support integrated healthcare and caregiving for the elderly.

Daejeon Yuseong District Council member Song Jae-man urged for the enhancement and development of a sustainable elderly medical and care integrated support system and the formulation of sustainable elder job measures during a council session on the 14th.

Council member Song stated, “Our society entered a super-aged society with the proportion of the population aged 65 and over exceeding 20% as of December 2024. As the government is promoting a regional-based integrated care system combining health and care as a key national policy, Yuseong District should also proactively prepare appropriate countermeasures.”

He further pointed out, “Currently, Yuseong District has been selected for the 2023 medical and care integrated support pilot project and is operating various customized welfare services, but the dedicated workforce and organizational system are inadequate.”

In addition, “To improve the quality of elderly care services, systematic training for professionals must be accompanied by reasonable treatment improvements,” emphasizing the need for mid- to long-term training plans and budget securing strategies.

Song stated, “Elderly integrated care is not just a welfare service but a key policy directly linked to the dignified lives of seniors,” and urged for active policy implementation to systematically respond to the super-aged society.
