(Seoul = News1) Senior Reporter Park Tae-hoon = Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women’s University, known as a protector of Dokdo and a promoter of Korean culture, highly praised the Netflix entertainment program ‘Chaotic Kian84’ featuring Kian84 as the main character for widely publicizing to the world that ‘Dokdo is our territory.’
Professor Seo introduced on social media on the 22nd that “episode 6 of ‘Chaotic Kian84,’ released on the 15th, depicted a father and son touring Dokdo while holding the Korean flag” and stated, “Dokdo was labeled in Korean as ‘독도’ and in English as ‘DOKDO.’”
He further explained, “In the Japanese subtitles, ‘独島’ (Dokdo) was used along with ‘ドクト’ (Dokto), the Japanese transliteration of Dokdo.”
Professor Seo evaluated that “the correct labeling of Dokdo this time is a welcomed move” and praised ‘Chaotic Kian84’ for not only promoting Dokdo but also showcasing the excellence of Korean culture and technology by directly filming on Dokdo and broadcasting it to global viewers through international OTT platforms.
Additionally, he asserted, “From now on, we will firmly respond to Japan’s baseless claims regarding Dokdo and further strengthen global promotion of Dokdo using cultural content such as entertainment shows, dramas, and films,” stating that he will not tolerate Japan’s territorial claims and the naming of Dokdo as ‘Takeshima’ (竹島).
