Released Jeon Kwang-hoon Says, “Korea is Doomed… You Should Donate 1 Million Won Even if You Have to Borrow”

Pastor Jeon Gwang-Hoon, who had been identified as being behind a disturbance at the Seoul Western District Court, was released on bail for health reasons after being arrested and charged. During a virtual service on the 19th, he encouraged his congregation to give special offerings, urging them to donate 1 million won even if it meant going into debt, claiming it was necessary to sustain the country.

In his remarks, Jeon noted the media’s attention to his health, asserting he no longer has the strength to deliver sermons in person and will continue to do so via video. He claimed that over 20 million people have heard his sermons or attended events at Gwanghwamun at least once, insisting they contribute financially within three months for the sake of the country.

Jeon also discussed a “misinterpretation of the law,” referencing politician Lee Jae-myung and threatening to report judges and prosecutors. The previous day, he attended a Gwanghwamun rally, declaring that the country had already failed but its citizens were unaware, pointing out his efforts to protect against handing the country over to North Korea.

Jeon is currently undergoing trial without detention due to a medical condition requiring regular hospital visits and the unlikelihood of him fleeing due to his recognizable public profile. Despite his arguments against detainment, Jeon had been charged earlier in the year with inciting violence and encouraging supporters to engage in destructive behavior following former President Yoon Seok-yeol’s arrest. Prosecutors accused him of inciting chaos through anti-government rhetoric directed at church members and rally participants.
