Prosecutors and police disapprove the emergency arrest of Munsangho, the intelligence commander.

**”Violation of Military Court Law Jurisdiction Regulations”… Approval for Arrest of Former Commander Noh Sang-won**

Moon Sang-ho, the Director of the Defense Intelligence Command, who was urgently arrested by the police’s special investigation team, is set to be released by the prosecution’s action. On the 16th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office stated, “Considering the investigative and arrest circumstances, the urgent arrest in this case violates the jurisdiction regulations of the Military Court Law,” and “we disapproved the police’s request for arrest approval.”

According to Yonhap News, Commander Moon is accused of ordering troop deployment to the Central Election Management Committee (Election Commission) in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, following the imposition of martial law by President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 3rd. He is also suspected of deploying the North Korean operations unit (HID) under the intelligence command for urgent detention of lawmakers. The police urgently arrested Commander Moon, suspecting he might have had prior knowledge of or was involved in a conspiracy regarding the martial law, but the prosecution blocked this due to a regulation violation, failing to secure his detention.

Following the prosecution’s disapproval notification, it is expected that the police will release Commander Moon. However, the prosecution approved the request for urgent arrest regarding former Intelligence Director Noh Sang-won.

Noh, who served as the Intelligence Director during the Park Geun-hye administration and is currently a civilian, has been identified by the opposition as a “shadow figure” who assisted former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun in planning this martial law. The police suspect that Noh, known to be a close friend and junior of Kim from the Korea Military Academy, may have drafted the proclamation order.
