President Yoon’s team is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing today… at this moment in the Constitutional Court.

The President Yoon’s side has submitted a power of attorney to the Constitutional Court today, indicating a formal legal response. Previously, they had been refusing summons from investigative agencies and the delivery of documents related to the impeachment trial. The legal team for President Yoon includes Bae Bo-yoon, a former Constitutional Court spokesperson during President Park Geun-hye’s impeachment, and Bae Jin-han, a judge-turned-lawyer and Yoon’s classmate from Seoul National University. Yoon Gap-geun, a former chief prosecutor, will handle public relations for the impeachment trial and other legal procedures, such as the investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials.

The first preparatory session for the impeachment trial, scheduled at 2 PM, will outline the key issues and plan out the hearings. Both the National Assembly’s impeachment committee and President Yoon’s representatives are expected to clarify their positions and submit their lists of witnesses. While President Yoon will not be attending today, the legal proceedings should advance as his legal representation has now been confirmed.

A briefing by the Constitutional Court’s spokesperson was scheduled at 11 AM, and further updates are expected. This report was filed by Kwon Joon-soo from YTN at the Constitutional Court.
