As the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol approaches, the tension in front of the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Seoul, is higher than ever.

Supporters of President Yoon held an overnight rally, vowing to block the execution of the warrant.

We’re connecting to our correspondent on the scene.

Reporter Choi Yoo-kyung, what’s the situation in front of the residence right now?

[Report]

Yes, although it’s still early, with observations that the High-ranking Officials’ Crime Investigation Department might attempt to execute the warrant this morning, more supporters have gathered near the presidential residence than before.

They held an overnight rally pledging to block the execution of the arrest warrant even with their bodies.

Waving Korean flags, American flags, and red light sticks, they continue to raise their voices.

The police are also preparing for any situation by setting up a barricade of police buses in front of the residence.

Currently, no investigators or police vehicles for executing the arrest warrant have arrived.

Since yesterday, many citizens have already gathered in front of the residence.

Citizens holding protests to block the arrest and others calling for the arrest have held respective rallies.

In the process, some supporters of President Yoon broke through police lines and reached the front gate of the residence.

When the police ordered the dispersal, protesters lay on the road, continuing their demonstration, leading to clashes with the police during forced dispersal.

Strong resistance from President Yoon’s supporters is expected during the arrest warrant execution.

There is speculation that the Presidential Security Service might also block the execution, further heightening the tension.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office plans to arrest anyone obstructing the warrant execution on charges of interfering with public duties.

With four days remaining until the arrest warrant’s validity period expires on the 6th, this tension is likely to persist until then.
