(Muan = News1) Reporter Park Young-rae = The Jeollanam-do Election Commission announced on the 3rd that it has filed a complaint with the police against candidate A and his associate B in relation to the first nationwide simultaneous Saemaul Geumgo chairman election (to be held on March 5). This is the first complaint filed by the Jeonnam Election Commission regarding this election.
According to the election commission, Mr. B is accused of conspiring with Mr. A last month to conduct election campaigns through verbal and telephone communication with voters C and D on behalf of Mr. A, and providing them with a total of 1.526 million won in goods.
Article 58 of the Act on Commissioned Elections of Public Organizations prohibits the provision of goods for the purpose of election campaigning to voters, Article 59 restricts donation activities for candidates during the donation restriction period related to elections, and Article 24 prohibits election campaigns by those who are neither candidates nor campaign workers.
An election commission official stated, “We are concentrating our crackdown capabilities on eradicating serious election crimes that disrupt election order,” and urged that “up to 300 million won in reward is offered for reporting violations, so please actively report and provide information.”
