The Gyeonggi Province’s wide-area emergency vehicle priority signal system will be expanded to Incheon from the first half of next year, allowing ambulances to reach hospitals without stopping at intersections. Previously, each local government operated its own priority signal system, leading to compatibility issues and signal delays when emergency vehicles crossed administrative boundaries. Over the past three years, Gyeonggi Province found that in city and county operations, the response time for emergency vehicles was dramatically reduced by more than 60%, from the previous 13-minute average to around 5 minutes. Gyeonggi Province plans to use this Gyeonggi-Incheon integration as the first case of nationwide standard expansion.
