A man in his 50s sentenced to 3 years in prison for peeping into a women’s bathhouse and theft just 5 months after being released.

A 50-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for peeping into a women’s bathhouse and committing theft just a few months after being released from prison. The Jeonju District Court’s Criminal Division 3, presided over by Judge Ki Hee-kwang, announced on the 2nd that it had sentenced Mr. A (55) to three years in prison for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and trespassing. The court stated, “The defendant has a substantial history of similar offenses and reoffended about five months after being released for the same crime,” adding, “The sentence was determined considering that the victims have not forgiven him.”

In November last year, Mr. A was indicted for stealing a bag left by someone else and for riding off on an unlocked electric bicycle, amounting to theft of about 800,000 won. He is also charged with entering through the back door of a bathhouse building in Wansan-gu, Jeonju, on October 18 and 20 of last year, in two separate instances, in order to peep into the women’s bathhouse. He committed the crime by noticing that the metal entrance door behind the bathhouse building was open and frequently going in and out through it. He had previously been sentenced to prison three times for theft and was released last June, only to commit offenses again in about five months.
