A group of 21 individuals involved in setting up and operating an illegal internet gambling site worth approximately 3.3 billion won in Ulsan has been arrested by the police.
The Ulsan Police Agency has arrested three people, including the 30s general manager A and store managers, on charges of setting up a gambling space. They have also booked 18 PC cafe owners who received gambling programs from them and provided them to customers.
A and his group are accused of setting up an illegal gambling program and distributing it to PC cafes since mid-April. Among them was a real estate agent involved in illegal adult PC cafes for livelihood maintenance.
A’s group attempted to expand the gambling site nationwide but was caught three weeks after the program started operating.
The police have seized 50 million won in cash, 39 smartphones, 132 PCs, and are currently tracking the proceeds of the crime.
