“A Korean in her 20s was arrested for assaulting a Japanese customs officer who was trying to stop her from taking photos of an idol in a no-photography zone at a Japanese airport.”
According to reports from the Mainichi Shimbun and others, on the evening of the 17th at around 8:20 PM, a woman in her 20s, identified as Ms. A, was arrested on-site by other staff at Fukuoka Airport’s international passenger terminal after assaulting a customs officer in his 30s by elbowing him in the chest.
Ms. A reportedly became enraged when the customs officer attempted to prevent her from taking photos near a luggage inspection area where photography is prohibited and proceeded to carry out the assault.
It is also reported that Ms. A has denied the charges, claiming, “I did not get angry or hit him.”
Currently, Japanese police are investigating Ms. A on charges of obstructing official duties and she remains in custody.
According to the Yonhap News Agency, an official from the Korean Consulate General in Fukuoka stated, “We have requested a prompt and fair investigation from the Japanese police and are providing necessary consular assistance.”
