The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Myanmar earthquake a highest-level emergency and requested emergency funding of $8 million, approximately 11.7 billion Korean won. In a statement, WHO emphasized, “There are many injured people in Myanmar and the poor medical environment increases the risk of disease spread,” and stressed that “immediate funding is required to save lives and restore essential medical services.” The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has also launched an emergency fundraising campaign worth 100 million Swiss francs, about 167 billion Korean won.
