[Video] Plane Crash in the U.S.: 7 People, Including Former Famous Racer’s Family, Perish

In North Carolina, a small plane crash resulted in the tragic death of seven people, including former famous racing driver Greg Biffle (55) and his family. According to AP News and others, the accident occurred at around 10:20 AM (local time) on the 18th near Statesville Airport in Charlotte.

The accident involved a ‘Cessna C550’ jet, which took off at 10:07 AM. It flew for about 8 km and made a sharp turn to the left in an attempt to return, but crashed at the end of the runway during landing. All seven people on board, including the pilot, were killed. The deceased list includes Greg Biffle, a legendary racer with multiple NASCAR wins, and his immediate family members. The plane was registered to a company operated by Biffle.

Statesville Airport, where the crash occurred, is a small airport without a control tower and is commonly used by NASCAR teams. The airport is currently closed as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other authorities investigate the exact cause of the accident, including potential aircraft defects.
