‘Donald Trump Jr. Sets Personnel Principles Amidst Plans to Exercise Veto Rights’
Amidst President-elect Donald Trump’s planning for forming a new government cabinet, his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., expressed his intention to exercise a virtual “veto” on personnel issues, with a principle that he does not appoint someone who thinks they know better than the President.
On the 7th, Trump Jr., a member of Trump’s transition team, appeared on Fox News, stating, “I will be deeply involved in the transition process. I want to ensure who the real players are, who will truly realize the President’s message, and who doesn’t think they know better than the legitimately elected President.”
He added, “I will make sure such people are part of my father’s cabinet and government.”
Previously, during an event at the Republican National Convention in July, Donald Trump Jr. had expressed his desire to exercise veto power over personnel matters in the next administration. At the time, he said, “I do not want to select certain people for positions of power,” expressing a desire to prevent individuals from becoming a catastrophe.
Regarding this, Howard Lutnick, co-chair of Trump’s transition team, mentioned in a recent interview that, relating to personnel principles, “They must be on the same side and understand the policies.” He further stated, “We will assign roles based on loyalty and fidelity to the President and policies.”
