“Trump on High Alert After ‘Garbage Island’ Comment… Harris Strongly Criticizes at Capitol Riot Site”

**[Anchor’s Comment]**

The impact of the comments made by a supporting speaker for Trump, who mocked Puerto Rico in the Caribbean as a “trash island,” is growing. It was a derogatory remark that could potentially alienate not only the 6 million Puerto Rican voters but the entire Latino community.

Former President Trump has responded by saying he doesn’t know the comedian in question, but he is undoubtedly worried about the potential impact on the presidential race.

This is Kang Young-goo reporting from Washington.

The remarks made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who spoke as a supporting speaker at Trump’s New York rally last weekend, are gaining significant backlash.

He compared the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico to a “trash island” and ridiculed immigrants.

– “There’s an actual trash island floating in the middle of the sea. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

There are about 6 million Puerto Rican voters residing in the U.S., with more than 400,000 living in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

As the situation escalated, former President Trump stated that the New York rally was a “festival of love” and claimed that “no president has done more for Puerto Rico than I have,” as he attempted to calm the situation.

– “No president has loved the Latino and Puerto Rican community more than I have. I will provide the best future for Puerto Ricans and Hispanic Americans.”

He further distanced himself by claiming he doesn’t know the comedian in question.

However, on social media, the remarks are being widely criticized, and there is unrest in the Latino vote.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign headed to Washington D.C., right in front of the White House.

It was a deliberate choice of location where former President Trump had delivered his speech contesting the election results four years ago.

– “Trump is the one who, right here at this location four years ago, sent armed mobs to the Capitol to overturn the people’s will.”

**[Stand-up: Kang Young-goo / Reporter (Washington)]**
– “With just a week to go until the election, there are iron fences and reinforced police forces in front of the White House here to prepare for any unexpected events. This has been Kang Young-goo reporting for MBN from Washington.”
