**”China Needs U.S.-China Relations More Than We Do”**
Regarding the unsuccessful Russia-Ukraine talks: “Very Disappointed in Putin”
[Washington=AP/Newsis] On the 2nd (local time) at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to relocate the U.S. Space Command headquarters. Concerning North Korean and Russian leaders attending a Chinese military parade, Trump said he is “not at all concerned.”
[Seoul·Washington=Newsis] Reporter Lee Hye-won and Correspondent Lee Yoon-hee report that U.S. President Donald Trump expressed no concerns about the gathering of North Korean and Russian leaders at China’s 80th Victory Day military parade.
When asked whether he is worried about North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin attending China’s large-scale military parade, President Trump said “No” and dismissed the concern.
President Trump stated, “China needs us, and I have a very good relationship with Xi Jinping, the President of China. China needs us more than we need them. I’m not concerned at all.”
He also added, “In fact, a few weeks ago we had a very good meeting with President Putin. We’ll see if anything comes out of it, and if not, we’ll take another stance.”
He did not specifically mention Chairman Kim and North Korea.
In an interview released on the Scott Jennigs Radio Show the same day, President Trump also said he is “not at all worried” about China and Russia forming a potential anti-American front.
However, for the first time since the meeting in Alaska, Trump publicly expressed disappointment with President Putin.
When asked if he felt betrayed for not reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, he said, “I was very disappointed,” adding, “We’ve maintained a good relationship, and this is very disappointing.”
President Trump had given a two-week deadline for a meeting between Presidents Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. The deadline was reached on the 1st, but he did not specify any actions to be taken against Russia regarding this.
Meanwhile, Chairman Kim departed Pyongyang on the “Taeyangho,” his private train, on the 1st to attend the military parade in China on the 3rd, arriving in Beijing on the afternoon of the 2nd. President Putin began his visit to China on the 31st of last month.
A total of 26 leaders are attending the military parade. This marks Chairman Kim’s first multilateral diplomatic stage. Attention is focused on whether a trilateral summit among North Korea, China, and Russia will be realized at this parade.
