“Donald Trump, the U.S. President-elect, has nominated three prominent actors—Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson—as ‘Hollywood envoys.’
Trump announced via his social media platform, Truth Social, that these individuals would serve as envoys to make Hollywood, which has lost many businesses overseas over the past four years, bigger, better, and stronger than ever.
He further emphasized, ‘These three very talented individuals will be my eyes and ears, and I will implement what they propose. Just as America will, Hollywood will once again experience its golden age.’
However, the Associated Press pointed out that it is unclear what specific roles these three will undertake, and noted that the title ‘envoy’ is traditionally assigned to troubled regions like the Middle East, rather than California where Hollywood is located.
All three are noted supporters of Trump. Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie’s father, has praised Trump as the greatest president since Lincoln. Stallone referred to Trump as a ‘second George Washington’ during a celebration after last year’s election.
Gibson expressed his support for Trump just before last year’s election and faced controversy for making derogatory remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party, calling her ‘as intelligent as a fence post.'”
