Blocked by Police Line, Macron Immediately Calls Trump,
On the evening of the 22nd (local time), French President Emmanuel Macron found himself stuck in the middle of New York City due to the motorcade of U.S. President Donald Trump, causing a minor commotion.
A video released by French media outlet Brut on social media shows President Macron and his entourage leaving the United Nations headquarters after delivering a speech, only to find themselves blocked at an intersection by a police line, just like ordinary citizens.
The road closure was due to the movement of President Trump’s motorcade.
When President Macron was puzzled, a police officer apologized, saying, “Sorry, Mr. President, all roads are currently closed.”
In response, President Macron immediately called President Trump. Macron jokingly complained, “How are you? You know, I’m waiting in the street. All the roads are blocked because of you.”
The police blockade was lifted a few minutes later, but only pedestrian movement was allowed, not vehicles.
Thus, President Macron and his group walked the streets of New York for about 30 minutes to reach the French Embassy. President Macron continued his phone conversation with President Trump during the walk.
President Macron also took “selfies” with citizens who recognized him along the way.
